"I attended Douglas College and took a course called Encore 55, where I learned about Ikigai — the Japanese concept of living a life with purpose. Having lost my mother after she lived with dementia for many years, I felt a strong desire to give back. Helping Hearts and Hands has become so much more than just a part-time job."
Linda retired three years ago from a long career in education. Seeking a meaningful sense of purpose, she pursued the Encore 55 program at Douglas College. Today, with 2.5 years of devoted service at Helping Hands & Heart, Linda provides compassionate, dignified in-home care for seniors living with dementia and health challenges across Greater Vancouver.
